Prostor

2003. Monofilament, fluorescent lights. 385 x 507 x 645 cm.

A bright white room, seemingly empty, is illuminated with fluorescent tubes from all of its edges. Inside, transparent monofilament lines are stretched in three directions, parallel to the walls and to the lights, barely visible at edges of the room while entirely invisible in the middle of it.

The lines create a dense three-dimensional grid that completely fills the room. Seeing the room is possible only from the entrance, by observing its space from the outside. A counterintuitive situation is created; while the room looks entirely empty and invites one to enter it, a density of interwoven lines acts as a physical obstacle to the movement.

Meticulous process of constructing the grid.
